HOLY THURSDAY VIGIL Luke 22:39-46 Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” Let us accompany Jesus during his agony in the garden of Gethsemane. The PRAYER VIGIL starts after the Mass commemorating the Last Supper. Come on your own or organise your friends and families to pray together. The objective is to have as MANY groups on each time slot. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Mass commemorating the Last Supper 7:00-8:00 pm Thursday, 1 April 2010 Benediction 11:30pm Address: St. Thomas Parish 190 High Street Willoughby NSW |

Living Rosary - 17 October 2009 |
|
In commemoration of the month of the Holy Rosary, the FCCP encourages our parishioners to join in praying the rosary as a community through the Living Rosary. In praying the Living Rosary, a person comes to represent each bead of the Rosary, takes a rose, lights a candle and stands in the designated place in the church after each prayer. At the end, all the participants in the Living Rosary will be standing to form a circle around the pews of the Church, enclosing the parish community and symbolising our unity. The aim of the Living Rosary is to ask God, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary, the conservation of the Faith in Catholic countries, the conversion of sinners, the strengthening of the just, and the exaltation of the Holy Church. The people who join this pious exercise divide among themselves the recitation of the prayers of the entire Holy Rosary and pray the rosary with the parish community. The aim is to encourage people to form a group of 15, praying a decade of one of the 15 mysteries every day for life, so that each day a rosary is being prayed around the world. Our prayers will be to ask God through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary to strengthen our faith in these difficult times and to grant special intentions for our brothers and sisters affected by natural disasters in Samoa, the Philippines and Indonesia. People across these regions are in desperate need of all aspects in life, especially our much needed spiritual support. Those who wish to volunteer to represent a bead in the Rosary may contact the FCCP coordinators on 0410 572 419 or 0438 501 458 or 0412 662 268. Date: 17 October 2009 (Saturday) Time: After 5:30 Vigil Mass Venue: Our Lady of Dolours Church, Chatswood Sponsor: Filipino Chaplaincy Chatswood Parish |

October is the month of the Holy Rosary. The Holy Rosary is very close to the hearts of the Filipinos. We pray this devotion fervently as our expression of love to Our Blessed Mother, the Mother of Jesus and our mother, too. During typhoon ‘Ondoy’, many of us prayed the rosary like in our last Mass in Chatswood. We asked the intercession of Our Blessed Mother for those who were greatly affected in the Philippines. ‘Ondoy’ left so much destruction in our people’s lives and properties, but we have witnessed how we, Filipinos, could be united in moments like this to reach out to all affected forgetting whatever affiliations we belong to – political, religion, civic, entertainment, etc. – and wherever we are in the world. All worked just for one goal – to reach out and help our brothers and sisters! ‘Ondoy’ won’t be the last to threaten our country, there will be more challenges alike, but certainly, ‘Ondoy’ has taught us a lesson as a Filipino nation. If we are united, no mountain is too high to climb, no deep waters is too deep to cross, no natural calamity is too strong to overcome…surely we will survive. I take this opportunity to thank all of you for generously sharing your blessings with our brothers and sisters when we had the collection after Mass last Sunday, 4 October 2009. Fr. Vlad and I have been touched and inspired by your generosity. The collection was forwarded to Caritas Manila, a Catholic organization run by the Archdiocese of Manila. Thank you so much for your kind and very Christian example. May the good Lord continue to bless you and your families. Fr. Casey B. Ureta Filipino Chaplain Diocese of Broken Bay |

FCCP raised $2,512 for the victims of typhoon "Ondoy" (Ketsana) |
|
The Filipino Chaplaincy of Chatswood Parish prayed the Rosary and offered their October Mass for the victims of calamities in the Philippines, Samoa and Sumatra. During Mass, scenes of the devastation were shown in a video presentation followed by Fr KC Ureta’s appeal for help for the flood victims of typhoon “Ondoy” in the Philippines. The community responded generously and raised $2,512, which will be sent to Caritas Manila. Donations of much needed necessities such as food and clothing are still needed and the FCCP will advise drop-off points soon. In the meantime, other arrangements are in place through other groups.
